Admittedly, I started taking Ozempic predominately for weight loss. I’ve always sort of been victim to diet culture and have tracked calories since the WW days. Now that I’m on Ozempic and have much less of an appetite, I’m wondering if tracking calories is necessary if I’m clearly just eating less overall. Maybe the calorie counting has been a security blanket all these years and I’m just looking for validation to give it up.

For me, one of the best parts of GLP-1 is that I don’t need to calorie count because I physically can’t eat enough to be worried my caloric intake is too high.

I think this question depends on how calorie tracking affects your mental health, also. Like, if it makes you anxious or takes control of your life, definitely seems like the right time to just listen to your body and make healthy choices and not rely so much on the numbers.

I think there’s room for both. As somebody who grew up doing Weight Watchers, I also don’t like tracking. However, when I reach a plateau or a stall, I do track for a week just to get an idea of where I’m actually at and how I can make sure I’m doing everything I am on my side to help. Sometimes I realized I’m not eating enough protein, or calories.

Maybe you could try giving it up for a bit and see how you feel. It might be a huge weight off your shoulders and allow you to live more freely! But if it does give you that security blanket feeling you could always go back to it!
