Ozempic Face

Is Ozempic face really a thing or is this just a normal consequence of rapid weight loss? As someone who has lost considerable weight on my GLP-1, I'm beginning to become self-conscious about my jowls but I'm also super excited about my weight loss and feel like this side effect would have happened however I slimmed down. I guess the question is, as an older woman doesn't weight loss always age our face?!?!?!?!

Are more people on Ozempic than Wegovy?

I feel like all I hear is Ozempic Ozempic Ozempic but isn't Wegovy better for weight loss? Maybe people on social media and in the media are using Ozempic as a blanket term for GLP-1, but it confuses me!

Could generic Ozempic/Wegovy make the prices cheaper?

I just saw that generic GLP-1s are in the works. Could this drive prices down? It will be interesting to see how this impacts the GLP-1 market!

Why is everyone SO skinny???

After award season in Hollywood I am left baffled. I am ALL for the amazing benefits of GLP-1s but it’s hard to not feel like they’re being misused. I just feel like under fueling (especially as a female) is such a poo example to set. I hope things take a turn for the for the better…

My Experience with Ozempic for Weight Loss and Blood Sugar Control

I started using Ozempic about three months ago to help manage my Type 2 diabetes and assist with weight loss.

Overall, my experience has been mostly positive. My blood sugar levels have improved significantly, and I have lost around 8 kg since st www.healthline.com/health/drugs/ozempic

Did changing your injection site help boost results?

I'm trying to manage weight and feeling like I've hit a wall in my progress and I'm not feeling the full effects of the medication anymore. I could go up a dose but I was wondering if I should try switching my injection site and see if that changes anything. I've heard back of the arm was good for some people. Any thoughts or what worked best for you?

Do different shot locations have different results?

Hi! I started Ozempic about a month ago and have been injecting into my abdomen. I don't feel any super big changes or reductions in food noise yet and I'm wondering if I should switch up the shot location? For context my main objective managing weight to help manage some health issues I have. I've heard the back of the arm was great for some people. Would love advice!

At what point did the food noise stop?

I'm still at the entry level dose and I haven't felt a shift in my mental clarity yet. I'm waiting for that "ahhh haaa" moment that everyone keeps talking about. Food noise is keeping me from my weight loss goals. I'm thinking about increasing my dosage soon. I know everyone reacts different, but I would love to hear when the food noise stopped for people.

New GLP-1 friendly menu at Shake Shack!

New menu alert! Shake Shack just launched a Good Fit menu designed with GLP-1 users in mind. It includes items like lettuce-wrapped classics, higher protein, and easy swaps.

It’s interesting to see how GLP-1s are influencing different industries, especially the restaurant and fast food spaces. Has anyone tried this yet?

Check it out on their website here

I hate what Ozempic has done to my partner.

My partner is not diabetic nor was she obese but she decided to start Ozempic after her weight loss began plateauing. She was upfront to me about going on the drug, and I was supportive. But 2 years later, she stopped going to the gym, she's still not satisfied with the weight loss, and even worse - she's obsessed with the fact that her butt is now flat and her facial skin is wrinklier. I think she looks great but the body dysmorphia is starting to affect our sex life. I'm at a loss and hoping someone else can share what has helped if you've experienced something similar.

GLP-1s Might Help the Immune System Fight Cancer

Last year, someone very close to me had an intense cancer scare, and ever since, I’ve become more interested in learning about cancer prevention. I recently came across this fascinating article:

Duke researcher Erika Crosby, PhD, is studying how obesity can weaken the immune system’s ability to fight cancer and how GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic might help reverse that. Her findings suggest these medications may do more than promote weight loss, they could actually help the body recognize and fight cancer again, opening new possibilities for prevention and treatment.

I definitely recommend giving it a read here!

Splitting Doses

So my doctor recently upped my dose to 1mg and I truly can’t handle it. Terrible headaches. A neighbor mentioned they split their dose - .5 on Tuesday morning and .5 on Friday night. My doctor doesn’t encourage splitting doses but I’m wondering if this strategy has worked for anyone else. Thanks!

Anyone feel weird talking admitting their taking Ozempic??

I started taking Ozempic 7 months ago and I have lost a bunch of weight which I love. I have been working out and eating healthy too. People of course compliment me and ask how I am doing it and even asked if I am taking Ozempic but I feel like embarrassed to admit it? Should I be? Should WE be? Who cares right - do what's best and what makes you feel the best.

Alcohol on Shot Day

I'm 4 weeks on .5mg and next week I go up to 1mg. So far I haven't been drinking alcohol because I am not a big drinker in general. On my birthday I took my normal .5mg shot and had two margaritas and some pizza for dinner. I woke up at 1am sweating and projectile vomiting. I'm totally fine now but I'm wondering if this happened because I had the drinks ON shot day. Just want to figure out the best way to handle alcohol moving forward!

What do we think about GLP-1 supplements?

I just read this super interesting article about GLP-1 supplements popping up everywhere as “nature’s Ozempic.” In the article, it talks about how they’re misleading and not the same as actual meds like Ozempic or Wegovy, and doctors say the science doesn’t back them up. Definitely worth a read—curious what you all think about it!

I’m currently on my 3rd dose of .5 Ozempic shot. I was at .25 for four weeks prior. I’ve lost 12 lbs since starting but I’m wondering when does food noise go away? Im definitely getting fuller more easily but I also still get daily chocolate cravings and am constantly thinking about what’s for dinner.

Ozempic + Eating Disorders

I thought this headline was eye-catching because you really don't hear TOO much conversation around GLP-1s and eating disorders I really appreciated Jade's transparency. As someone who publicly struggled with anorexia in the past, she knows that turning to GLP-1 medication for weight loss might trigger a relapse.

Wondering if anyone here has struggled with disordered eating and what their GLP-1 experience has been like because I know they are prescribing these medications specifically for binge eating disorder.

1mg Moved the needle for me!!!!

I have been posting on Reddit about my Ozempic journey and kept being told to be patient which was really frustrating. I spent a couple months on .25mg and a couple more at .5mg and was so disheartened that there was zero impact on the scale. So this month I finally got up to 1mg and I've lost 16.4 LBS and I'm just so excited!!!!

I really needed to share bc I think it's so confusing that some people have tremendous results at lower dosages but for whatever reason my body required a little more medication than others to start moving the needle (in the right direction!) Just also a reminder that we're not crazy or impatient, these meds just don't work for the same for everyone and that's OK!

Are we calorie counting???

Admittedly, I started taking Ozempic predominately for weight loss. I’ve always sort of been victim to diet culture and have tracked calories since the WW days. Now that I’m on Ozempic and have much less of an appetite, I’m wondering if tracking calories is necessary if I’m clearly just eating less overall. Maybe the calorie counting has been a security blanket all these years and I’m just looking for validation to give it up.

Navigating Perimenopause with Ozempic: My Experience

Perimenopause brought unexpected shifts. I experienced weight gain, cravings, and sluggish metabolism even with healthy habits. Exploring Ozempic as a tool, rather than a quick fix, led me to microdosing, starting with small doses to ease side effects. Over time, I noticed fewer cravings, steadier energy, and gradual, sustainable weight loss. While Ozempic helped regulate appetite and blood sugar, I found that movement, nutrition, and patience were just as essential in navigating this transition. Everybody responds differently, but for me, microdosing has supported balance and confidence through perimenopause.

There is part of me that wants to start again but another part of me that’s scared if I go back I’ll have to stay on forever. Looking for any advice.

Totally Get It...BUT

First timer. My husband was on all the GLP-1s and none of them worked for him - regardless of the dosage - so I was left with a fridge of medications. I was curious so I decided to try the lowest dosage of Ozempic for a couple of weeks. I lost 10 pounds (which I couldn't believe) BUT -- and this is very important -- I was kinda miserable. I didn't want to eat or drink and had no fun at all so I stopped.

Officially in the Overweight category with over 20 pounds lost

65F, 5'4" – SW: 195.8, CW: 174.2, GW: 145? (or maybe a bit higher, depending on how frail I look).

I started Ozempic on July 3, 2024. I was on 0.25mg for the first 8 weeks, and since then, I’ve been on 0.50mg. I’m considering increasing to 0.75mg or 1.0mg next week because I’ve noticed a bit of food noise creeping back, but as long as I’m still losing weight, I’m happy with where I am.

Today, I officially moved into the “overweight” category! I’ve been steadily losing around a pound per week, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the progress. We can do this!

The urge to binge eat has faded away

Ozempic has truly shifted the way I approach food. I’ve battled with binge eating for as long as I can remember. Growing up, one of my parents controlled everything I ate, which left me with a pretty unhealthy relationship with food (I’m currently working with a counselor to address this). Once I was on my own, I didn’t know how to handle the urges to eat—there was no one there to stop me anymore. But with Ozempic, I’m finally able to manage those cravings and avoid eating when I’m not actually hungry.

The only downside is that I don’t feel hunger as much as I feel nausea, but honestly, I’d take that over binge eating any day. I’m currently at a steady 1.0 mg dose and starting to see real results since I gradually worked my way up to this level a few months ago. My hope is to continue building a healthier relationship with food and, of course, keep losing weight.

18-month progress: March 23 to September 24

I went from around 104kg to 78.5kg, starting on Saxenda for six months and then transitioning to Ozempic/Wegovy. The weight loss has been slow and steady, but it really picked up when I moved to a more walkable neighborhood and increased my physical activity. I still follow a diet as well, but now I find it much easier to resist temptation! 😅

Ozempic turned out differently than I expected

The way the media portrays it, you’d think this is a magic drug that just makes the pounds melt away. That’s not really the case—you still need willpower, a balanced diet, and regular exercise. What it does do is make sticking to a diet easier. The usual food triggers are still there; I still love food just as much, and I still face the same social pressures around eating. But I can finally take all the nutrition advice I’ve been given over the years and make a plan I can actually stick to. Now, portions don’t control me.

I sometimes wonder if I’m thinking about food too much. Am I really hungry, or is it just nausea? Maybe I just need water? Is this what people call “food noise”? Eating less than 1500 calories a day seemed intimidating at first. It’s not exactly easy—I could eat more if I wanted—but I don’t feel the need to. Now, I’m much more intentional about what I eat and listen to what my body truly wants.

During the first week, I felt amazing, full of good vibes. Tonight marks my third shot, and while some of the stresses that were affecting me are still present, I feel like losing weight can’t hurt. I’m hoping this journey will also help me manage my blood pressure better, so I don’t have to worry every time I get stressed.

Wow, I thought I was one of the lucky ones who wouldn’t have to deal with nausea, but I guess I just wasn’t on a high enough dose yet. 😭 Now that I’m on 1mg, I can definitely feel it working. But how do you all manage the constant nausea? I’ve been trying ginger capsules, but they seem to trigger major acid reflux.

Does the nausea calm down over time? I can’t even think about most foods without getting that horrible saliva pooling in my mouth and a twisted feeling in my stomach. On the bright side, I’m beyond grateful that it’s finally helping me stay away from alcohol. I used to drink a bottle of red wine every night, but now I can barely manage a glass. And because I have to sip it so slowly, I don’t even get tipsy—definitely a deterrent. For me, that alone is worth any amount of nausea. 😋

Right now, I’m trying to stick to protein shakes (not a fan of the taste, but honestly, nothing sounds good anyway 🤷‍♀️). Fingers crossed that the extra protein will help!

Nearing the 3-month mark on Ozempic

I’ve lost 24 lbs, and my blood sugar levels are nearly always in the normal range. My A1C has dropped from 8.0 to 6.6. While I don’t see a big physical change yet, I feel amazing. I’m back to working out regularly, and I finally have my energy back.

39F, starting weight: 245, current weight: 221. I also manage PCOS and type 2 diabetes.
