How to Avoid Weight Gain After Stopping Semaglutide? Anyone Tried Tapering?

Over the past two years, I’ve had mental health challenges and frequent medication adjustments that caused very significant weight gain—My usual 110–125 lbs (I’m 5’1) became 187 lbs. I struggled with intense hunger, binge eating, and impulsivity. From the advice of my doctor and psychiatrist, I started Wegovy which helped me rework my diet and reduce impulsivity with minimal side effects due to its gradual dosage increase. Later, I switched to compounded semaglutide to save costs. Over 1.5 years, I lost 60 lbs, improved my mental health, and began exercising again after plateauing at 6 months.

I stopped semaglutide due to nausea, headaches, and difficulty eating enough, but about a month later, my hunger cravings have returned. Now, 5 months off semaglutide completely, I’ve regained some weight, which I’ve accepted as normal. Still, I’m curious—does anyone have tips for managing weight after stopping semaglutide? Or have experience tapering off successfully? I’d love to hear what worked for you

Did you also stop taking the mental health meds that caused the weight gain as well?
